Trials and tribulations of first-time parents to-be

It’s Time! January 15, 2008

Filed under: Having a Baby — Jim @ 11:07 pm

Momma and I went in for a scheduled appointment this morning and the doc sent us over to the hospital for monitoring again….and we’re still here this time.

If you’re not aware, we did this a week ago also. Momma has been having elevated (but not dangerously high) blood pressure. The doctor put her on bed rest last Tuesday (something she has not been happy about).

Anyway, this time the doctor talked to us about the options and risks and we all decided that waiting longer just didn’t give us a big enough benefit to justify the risks to both momma and baby.

So, here we are. Momma moved into a room about 2:00pm on Tuesday and the doc administered cervadil (sp?) at about 6:00pm.

She started having contractions about 8:00 was pumped full of happy-medicine at 10:00. She’s resting now and that’s a good thing.

If things go as planned (HAHAHA!) then the doc will administer Pitocin at about 6:00 am and we should have a baby on Wednesday. Just one day short of 37 weeks into her pregnancy.

We have every reason to believe baby Lola will be healthy and happy and will no doubt be the light of our lives!

I’ll keep you up to date as often as I can.

    Hello, World! Introducing, Lola!

Seriously, congrats to you both. Expect a small, but crammed to the gills, box of newborn baby clothes to arrive on Monday or sooner. While folding them up last night, Justin and I had to siiiigh — I held up one of the “just born” onesies that Sara wore her first month and it’s bittersweet now ‘cuz the entire thing isn’t even long enough to go from her neck to her diaper’s waistband, now.

Cherish every moment, even the harried, “What exactly did we get ourselves into, again?” moments. The old chestnut that they grow up before you know it? Totally true, especially in this first year. And take lots of photos, even if they aren’t masterpieces photographically, they are because Lola is in them.

    Love to the new ‘fam!
