Momma did much better today. Slept from 2am until 7 and back to bed until 11. That’s great considering she was up about 14 times the night before. I was downtown in meetings most of the day but when I got home at 4 she wanted to go swimming. And then we had our first real meal together in almost two weeks. Fingers are crossed for another good night tonight.
Worst Day Yet June 25, 2007
Today was the worst day yet of morning/noon/night sickness. She couldn’t keep anything down all day. Even her “old standby”, Taco Bell bean burritos didn’t do well. But Momma was in good spirits none the less. Thankfully, a friend told her yesterday that the sicker you are during pregnancy the healthier the baby will be. That helped.
Amy brought over some homemade mashed potatoes today. What a wonderful gesture. I’m hoping those will go over well.
We played in a couples golf tournament yesterday. She struggled but made it through. I was playing bad so that didn’t help things either. Did I mention Jamie is just a little bit competitive?
I made another run to the grocery store tonight. She had Cheetos yesterday and loved them. So I bought three bags. She had her first craving on Saturday…Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The box was empty by 5 a.m. on Sunday. We both laughed about that but at least she enjoyed it…and only saw it once
She’s also going to try rice cakes…plain…blech! But she wants bland. It doesn’t get any more bland than plain rice cakes. Maybe I’ll just cut up a cardboard box for her.
Momma’s First Round of Golf June 21, 2007
Jamie played her first full round of golf today (as a Mom). It was a huge success (IMHO). She finished the round, only puked twice…and made it to a bathroom both times…and her team won the tournament. It was good to see her get out and prove to herself that she could play 18 holes.
She’s been having trouble finding a steady comfort food she can keep down. One day mac & cheese is great, the next day, not so much. The only thing she has found so far is Taco Bell bean burritos. Maybe not the healthiest thing, but at this point, who cares. They fill her up and she hasn’t lost one yet. I just wish there were a Taco Bell closer to the house (whine…OK, I’m done).
Next doctor appt. is not for four weeks. Hopefully the morning/noon/night sickness will be better by then. She’s been sleeping better the past two nights. She hasn’t been taking the pre-natal vitamins before bed, I think that’s helping her sleep better. The vitamins make her sick so she’s saving them for mid-day. We’ll see how that goes. Another good thing she found is regular Coke. That seems to calm her stomach.
She had a big day today. After golf she wanted to go to the Mall to exchange some clothes she bought just before we found out she was pregnant. We went into Pottery Barn Kids where she picked out an $1,100 crib (doh!). But that one will only work if it’s a boy. The girl’s crib was “only” $700 (what a relief…psssssss). “Hey honey, I saw one just like this at a garage sale for $50…” SLAP! “Whaaaaattt???? Did I say something wrong?????”
Smile! June 20, 2007
First doctors visit today. Jamie’s guess was that she was 6-8 weeks along. The doctor confirmed 6 weeks and 3 days. That makes the date February 7, 2008.
We had a sonogram today. I wasn’t expecting that so soon. Obviously I have NO CLUE what is going on here.
But Baby O was hiding anyway. We definitely saw the baby but really couldn’t make out much. The Dr. said she (I’m just calling it She for now, I can’t bring myself to refer to our baby as “IT”)…she is up against the sack wall and kind of blended in with the wall on the sonogram pic. Sure Doc! Whatever you say…
Anyway, here’s her very unimpressive first photo. What was impressive was when we got to see and hear the heart beat…omigod….that rocked!
